Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a bizarre partnership that defies conventional forecasts, the game developer has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Revealed
According to the official release, "An unusual encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of prohibited rituals and fearsome transformations reverberate through the obscurity." The plot introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden group.
The mission focuses on "peculiar experiments and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Metamorphoses
The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Additional Features
Players who finish the mission will receive an exclusive katana together with several artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps steed
Newest Free Story Content
This release also introduces the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Partnerships
This marks hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime properties. The series formerly featured a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
